I have just joined trim down club and can’t seem to find any advice on what to do. I have created a weekly menu but it is very repetitive and I would like to vary it with the recipes. Not sure how to do this and still lose weight. Also can’t find any advice on what the carb and protein swaps mean. Just seem to end up back at same page all the time. Any advice ?

Hi, 64chrisd, and welcome. I encourage you to try the personal version of the Menu Planner application (the right-most option here – http://www.trimdownclub.com/menu-planner), so you can select many foods, which will increase the changes of variety. In addition, you can select “high variety” in your profile.
Beyond that, you can always swap out foods in your menu by clicking on them, which can increase variety.

I just joined too. And there are a lot of “holes” in the information available… Or perhaps I don’t know where to look. How much is a “serving of vegetables”? A serving of fruit? I assume I can switch items in a menu around as long as the balance remains the same (i.e. Whole grain bread instead of muffin- strawberries instead of grapes. I really need a list of “fruits”. And a list of “vegetables”. Is there such?
    HELP!

If you go to: http://www.trimdownclub.com/exchanges-lists/ (or even just google ‘trim down club, exhanges’ if you forget the web address) you will see the exchanges for all foods – fruit, veggies, carbs, protein, etc. I found it helpful to just print out the entire list.

just joined and wondering once the menus are created do you provide a shopping list?

I was wondering if I need to eat all the carbs that are put on my plan. Also, snacks do not want vegan at ALL.

Have Atkins drinks and bars. Are they okay to have on this plan. Also have Atkins recipes using Almond and Coconut flour. Do not know what Rice flour is. Also I make OOPS (a non carb bread made with cream cheese, eggs and egg whites). Will these be okay.

Hi, Auntkates. In addition to the information hwyla provided, your menu will let you know the portions of most foods, and clicking on the “Vegetables of Your Choice” link will bring you to a list that explains the portion sizes.
As for switching around – absolutely! 🙂

Hi, afb83. Yes – click on the “Grocery List” icon in the toolbar above your menu (it is toward the right end).

Hi, san. You can swap carbs for protein exchanges, no problem.
Regarding your snacks, you can click on any food and swap it for something else.
We don’t recommend products like Atkins drinks and bars because they are
rather processed, and this can work against your goals. I would recommend that you make your own alternatives from Atkins recipes (such as the bread you mentioned) using whole ingredients (such as the almond and coconut flours you mentioned).

If you check out the exchange page (http://www.trimdownclub.com/exchanges-lists/ ), you’ll see that pumpkin, corn and parsnip are listed under ‘starchy veg’ and so count as carb exchanges.

I’m in UK. Vegetarian who loves to cook. Can I still use Marmite (savoury yeast extract) not Vegemite. I find it’s helpful for extra B complex and salt (advice from doctor as I’ve had ileostomy for 34 years). Can’t think of any alternative.
