    I’m new to this program. I have several medical issues. A lot of the receipes call for items that seem expensive. I would like some advise as how to start without spending a lot for items. I want to succeed. But I’m limited by cost. Anyone have any idea. I’m 63 & physical handicap due to heart and COPD. Not using excuses. Just the truth. I can walk for short distance

    That’s the issue I’m having too. The more healthier the item the more expensive. It’s cheaper to make bad food with bad ingredients that’s why all the un healthy stuff is cheaper. What I been doing was I took a couple recipes from the site and made a lot of portions and froze them so I can have mine to eat during the week. That might help you out also..

    This was an answer Ossie gave to another newbie about concerns over expensive items. Don’t worry about the actual foods before you have a chance to shop. Other benefits of the Menu Planner application include portion sizing, food combining, and meal scheduling, and beyond that, you can benefit from the food preparation techniques recommended in the program overview (http://www.trimdownclub.com/product/trimdownclub-program, chapter 3).
    Try new foods a little at a time, see what you like, perhaps just upgrade your regular foods (i.e. whole grain instead of white).
    The food amounts seem large because the program is not a diet in the sense that most people are used to (associated with deprivation) – they are actually the normal amounts people should be eating to get your metabolism up and keep it there for maintenance of your loss. If you have been on deprivation diets before, it may take your body a while to get used to it, but hang in there – it is an investment in long-term results that will take less time than it took to gain the weight.

    I am also only 2 weeks into the program and feel a bit overwhelmed with trying to find the right kinds of foods at my regular store. Time to run to specialty food stores is scarce and the prices also go up. I’ve been so concerned about finding the right foods, I’ve already forgot the 5 foods I shouldn’t eat.

    Hi, weezebud1, and welcome. Don’t worry too much about being perfect and running up hefty food bills. Ease into changes gradually, and find where the good deals are. Keep in mind that not buying processed foods and some portion control will also save some money. If you live in the US, some discount stores like Target, CostCo, and WalMart carry many good items.
