Hi, MyHappiness. You can click on the circular arrow icon at the upper righthand corner of each food item, and a list of additional items will pop up for you to make the switch.

Hello, I am new to this also. Have completed atkins induction plus two weeks increasing carbs slowly to 25 per day. Scale not moving, cannot understand the long plateau. Only need to lose 10 lbs, but your menu’s look like more than I should eat. Do you know of any plateau breakers???

    #17796

Hi, Joann. This program has about 40-45% of energy from carbs, where most regular eating plans provide around 50-65%, so it is fairly low-carb – but more sustainable for long-term results.
The plateau-breakers that tend to be more effective are changes – even minor – in physical activity. Work new muscles, and/or introduce 30-second bursts of high-intensity activity into your regular regime(i.e. jog or run uphill while you’re on a walk) etc.

Hi, shrl, and welcome. This program was indeed designed based on principles of balancing blood sugars and supporting diabetes management.

Does anyone know if I can have the third snack before dinner. I get up early and eat dinner a couple of hours before I go to bed because of my schedule. When I get home I’m hungry but my husband isn’t home for a couple of hours so I wait to cook dinner. This is my third week and I’ve lost 3.5 pounds.

I am also new. Do I choose one of the choices for snacks and meals or do I eat all of the suggested foods? The snacks seem like a lot of food.

Hi, Starsbar. Absolutely! (Good for you for picking up on the timing of eating vs activity, hunger and sleep) πŸ™‚

Hi, Amber’s Mom and welcome! The intention is for you to eat all of the items listed. The goal is to avoid hunger and eventually get your metabolism up.

Hi. I’m new to this program and am wondering how important to follow the meal plan exactly. I don’t believe I’ll be able to find many of the food items in my rural wal-mart such as the rice flour, swg bread/rolls and all kinds of organics and if they do have it, will I be able to afford it?any suggestions on substitutions, etc would be helpful.

Hi, sdschwobe, and welcome! First, as long as you focus on fresh, whole, unrefined, unprocessed foods, you’re already benefiting – you’ll also benefit from the portions sizes, scheduling, and food group combinations, so no worries. Second, where in Wisconsin do you live? WalMart carries many of the lesser-known items, as does Whole Foods Market and Trader Joe’s, if that helps. You can also order items online, including through Amazon.com. Woodman’s has started adding some of these items to their selection, too.

I have a question. I am entering my 5th week and have dropped 12 pounds so far. I dropped 8 in the 1st 2-weeks and have slowed up a bit since. I have been eating a lot of fruit with my meals and snacks. Is this bad? I know there is sugar in fruit.

Hi, Ka! Congratulations on your loss! πŸ˜‰ Way to go! (This is a copy of the message I sent you in the other forum topic.) And, the fruit, if you are following your menu, you should be having fruit no more than twice a day. And, yes, the extra sugars can make a difference. Try eating from your free veggie list instead. (I know fruit appeals to our palette a bit more, but it is healthier for us to eat the veggies.) Are you eating all that your menu suggests for you? And all the portions you are supposed to? And drinking all your water? They will all help to keep you full so you won’t be going into the kitchen seeking fruity pleasures. lol
