I joined TDC four weeks ago, still consider myself a newbie as I have not really connected with others. I am able to navigate the system and follow the plan well enough. I enjoy reading others posts and comments both positive and negative. Face it can’t have one without the other, just like joy and sorrow. I have lost 40 or more pounds more often than I can count in my 40 years of dieting…I am always successful losing the weight but maintenance obviously evades me. I am a self confessed emotional eater. In 2013 I felt I had finally licked the problem, trimmed down I was cycling 120 to 180 Kilometers a week walking 40 to 60 minutes two to three times a week and 2 to 3 hrs at least twice a week as training for a two day 60 K hike in Toronto to end women’s cancer… raising 10,000 with my friends and colleagues Carolyn and Lindsay. Then Dec 2013 my Mom’s health began to deteriorate and with that so did I. Bound by heart to support my Mom I failed myself. After Mom spent 8 months hospitalized in 2014 she passed away in August, the 14th anniversary was yesterday. Unfortunately in June of 2014 I fell, tripped by a Bassett on the daily walk, tore something in my shoulder which prevented me from getting back in the cycling saddle and my only physical activity was with the physiotherapist for over a year. I am thankful that I ran across TDC ad because it gave me the courage to try again. I contemplated trying again for over a year, made many false starts as well so happily and with more courage I am facing the challenge again. I am down 8 pounds in my fourth week and I am cycling some 30 k a week at a reduced pace, I have sped up while walking the dogs and have more energy. SO this is to thank those who have gone before, the stories you share, the successes and complaints, they have all helped me to start. Hopefully this may inspire someone else, for me it was great just finding time and words to express myself.

I have no one to send this message to

I am new to this as well. I joined last week, am working on meal plans and grocery lists to start soon. Good luck to you.

Hi, you two, and welcome. We are happy to help in whatever way we can (including donating to women’s cancer causes).
