lisarn77MemberI like my coffee w/ half and half, how do I figure this into my menu planner
January 2, 2013 at 10:28 pm #4388
Ossie-SharonMemberHalf-and-half is a fat, and it is recommended to limit each daily amount to 3 tablespoons per day. Having said that, perhaps you can gradually work in a healthier alternative, i.e. higher-fat almond milk (brands: Pacific, Blue Diamond, Almond Dream) – these have the best textures, don’t need to be counted in the menu planner if the amount used is a cup or less, and most importantly, almond fat is much better for you than saturated dairy fat.

mbanks4590MemberI just went to my closest health food store here in Wichita and they told me it is illegal in Kansas to sell raw milk. I know organic is the next best but is it really much different from regular dairy milk? I read that it is the pasteurization process that kills the good stuff in raw milk so it is also killed in organic milk. What do I do about all these raw milk products in the menu planner program?

Ossie-SharonMemberOrganic, fortified milk really is the next best thing to raw milk if you go dairy. You can get benefits similar to those lost in the heating process from eating rice bran and fresh fruits and vegetables.

RonniMemberTo the Brits, who like me are floundering a bit – we can get raw milk from some Farmers Markets. As am in London have found the nearest to me & the link is: http://www.lfm.org.uk/what-can-i-buy/ There are not a lot of providers but its a start, otherwise its organic which somesupermarkets & milkmen will offer.
Generally I will be starting slow & using up what I have in the fridge/cupboards before I do a large shop, introducing the plan slowly. As to the menu planner – putting in substitutes where needed. My main issue is portion control and the small & frequent approach I hope will work with me – just have to get organised on work days so have what I need with me! The other issue is night time cravings – that may take a little time. I am hoping these forums are going to be places for support and advice & sharing of solutions & recipes (especially Brit friendly ones).January 3, 2013 at 1:24 pm #4458
awayagain4MemberStill trying to figure out the different cheeses. How does our English Cheddar/Cheshire/ Red Leicester cheese figure in the menu. These are the kind I buy at my local supermarket. Also Philadephia Light soft cheese.
Have ordered my cups on ebay, and changed to wholegrain bread, so that’s a start.

ElranahMemberI have been wondering how to set up a gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar-free diet. When I look at the food choices and the recipes there are too many ingredients that I am unable to use.
I signed onto this site because I was hoping to get help setting up menu plans and recipes that would work with my allergies and sensitivies. Can you help?January 3, 2013 at 3:11 pm #4469
dawnrosieMemberam I still allowed my Marmite? I usually have 2 big teaspoons per day. I have this as a drink with 1/2 pt hot water and pepper?

robinbMemberHi, I’m new and have a few questions. If I find a menu that works well and I enjoy can I use it more than one day during the week? Also, if I have a favorite breakfast can I follow that with any of the menus? Are they interchangeable of does that change the effectiveness of that day’s menu.
ThanksJanuary 4, 2013 at 12:08 am #4557
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Elranah. Most of the recipes and many of the food choices in the Menu Planner are free of the allergens you listed. Is there something specific that caught your eye that you want to use but cannot?
