what are oat groats I cant find them in the supermarket
Hi, Norma. Oat groats are similar to brown rice, but meatier in texture, and a slight oat taste (but they are used like rice). For more on them, see here http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-oat-groats.htm#slideshow. Those intended for human consumption are available in health-oriented markets, such as Whole Foods Market and Trader Joes, as well as online from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_7?url=search-alias%3Dgrocery&field-keywords=oat+groats&sprefix=oat+gro%2Caps%2C127 or one of the leading producers http://www.bobsredmill.com/organic-whole-oat-groats.html.
Hi thanks for the answer can I subsitute brown rice for oatgroats without messing up the ratio of carbs abd proteins in the meal
Hi, Norma. Yes, you can substitute each with the other.
