elliebellyMemberI have seen other similar questions, am I eating too much? The site support gives the same cut and paste answer every time. I just finished my first week and I feel like I ate way too much. I would like to know how the portion size is calculated? I know about the exchange button, but what quantities are recommended and how is that recommendation calculated?

SupportKeymasterHi elliebelly,
Before Ossie chimes in, I see you posted this question in a different forum topic. Below is my answer:
It is natural to want to know the how! The Menu Planner takes your personal parameters (height, weight, goal weight, gender, dietary needs and more) into consideration to give you a menu with portions that fit your needs. We can sit here and discuss the Menu Planner in and out, but that defeats the purpose of the App. The Menu Planner acts like your personal nutritionist. The tool was specifically created to keep you from having to count calories and monitor each and every food item in your menu. If you feel like there is too much food in your menu, I recommend checking that your profile information is correct and you have a goal weight set. And, when it comes to portion control, here is a great article that will give you a better understanding on this important topic:

Lastly, remember below your final menu plan we have added frequently asked questions with answers. This area has a lot of excellent information to guide you to creating a successful weekly menu!
I hope I was able to help 😉February 20, 2015 at 1:52 pm #27249
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, elliebelly. At your current weight, your menu generates approximately 117-127 grams of protein, 190-200 grams of carbohydrates, and 90-100 grams of fat. These amounts are calculated to support a weight that is somewhat less than where you are, and will go down as you lose weight. This is too prevent very fast loss that can result in unmovable plateaus and eventual rebound weight gain. The portion sizes are taken from the American Diabetes Association and Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly the American Dietetics Association), to meet your nutritional needs at every weight.
