I just want to make sure that I am being monitored by someone in trim down club office, and I’m getting my totals right. For Wednesday, carbs – 7.5, proteins – 9.5, fats – 3, fruits – 3, and vegetables – 4 are my totals. Is this too much, or can you tell me what my totals of each should be?

Hi, nhhicks61. That looks perfect for you. If you saw them in the “Exchange view” of your menu, they are already calculated based on your needs.

I’m brand new and don’t understand how much of each, carbs, protein, fats etc., that I am supposed to have every day.

Hi, blupacchino, and welcome! Click on “Exchange view” in the toolbar above your finished menu, and you will see the allotted exchanges. The amounts and values are nearly identical to those of the American Diabetes Association – you can see ours here: http://www.trimdownclub.com/exchanges-lists. If you are looking for total gram amounts for you, they are about 90 grams of protein, 60-70 grams of fat, and 180-200 grams of carbohydrates. The range is because your weight puts you right on the border between two menu plans, so when you get down to about 137 lbs, you will be in the lower end of the range.

    Hi Ossie Sharon
as I am in my 5th week now is it ok if I start having some of the meals from the recipe meals or will this go against my daily menu plan
    thanks a lot Pauline

Hi, Pauline. As long as you have similar portions of the foods, that’s just fine.

I just started but didn’t get around all the shopping and planning my menu. I have some problems with cooking just for me,the amount of food is just too much for me. I’m 73 years and live alone. So cooking for just one person is difficult. Fortunately I’m an old cook and can adjust the recipes for less servings. I have a very slow digestion and for that reason I don’t eat much in the evening. Can I reduce the amount of each food for the snacks or maybe reduce the number of them?

Hi, Ruth. That’s fine – you can cut back by up to 25%. Just be sure to get as many of the fruits, vegetables, and calcium-rich foods as possible.
