Ossie-SharonMemberJemaime, excellent questions. Tracking your eating by recording foods, amounts, and moods when eating is a standard adjunct technique for effective weight loss. It increases your awareness, which is the first step to solving any problem, serves as a reality check if you find you are not losing weight the way you would expect, and keeps you on track for ensuring adequate nutrition while you are trying to lose weight.
As for recording your weight – we actually do not recommend you do it every day, but rather once a week. Many people find that following a pattern of change motivates them when the weight comes down, and helps redirect them to change their eating/exercise when their weight stops decreasing or goes back up.October 21, 2012 at 10:11 pm #2479
wendyParticipantI am a brand new member and am looking forward to positive results. I Enjoy a Beer at the end of the day. Does this diet include any alcohol?

pullygirlParticipantI just joined this site and I have a question in regards to the amounts of foods per meal…especially the amount at breakfast. For instance:
•1 serving of Vegetable Salad with Dressing
•1 1/2 cups of Oatmeal (Cooked with Milk)
•1/2 ounce of Almonds
•1/4 cup of Cottage Cheese (Raw), 2%
•1 Egg (omega-3)
•1 cup of Blackberry
If I ate the same food groups and cut the portions down in size, will I still benefit with this meal plan? The amount of foods seems so much and I am not a big eater for the most part. Thank you for any help in advance.October 23, 2012 at 2:35 am #2489
rosaParticipantI have a question regarding the amt of food per meal. I never eat so much food especially for breakfast. Do we need to eat all of it for the diet to work. Plus, it’s kind of odd to eat a fish and poultry protein in the same meal. Instead can we make it all fish or poultry? Also, I notice that if we don’t pick a meal option, the menu simply says to have ex. a 1/2 c. of barley-but can we add oil or a dressing, etc.. Thanks for your help.

carlottarParticipantDid not see a response to the question about the amount of food for each meal. If we have 2 of the 3 snack items, will it hurt of to leave out the raw granola? Or If there are 5 breakfast items and I eat 4, will it be okay?

Ossie-SharonMemberTo all asking about the many items at each meal: It is intended for you to eat all, because the goal is to have adequate nutrition, and minimal hunger. If it is too much at once: as long as you include protein sources in your breakfast, you can push “extra” items to later meals, particularly the “between” meals – however, do be careful not to push too much toward the evening/night, unless you plan a night workout.

Ossie-SharonMemberRegarding mixing main courses (example given, fish and poultry): yes, you absolutely can choose one for the whole amount. Same for starches, unless you are a vegetarian. We also encourage variety for vegetables.

Ossie-SharonMemberAlcohol is not included in the diet per se, but we understand that many people like to drink. Keep in mind that the body processes alcohol a bit like fat, a bit like carbohydrates, especially carbohydrate-rich beer. Each regular can would equal 1 carb and 1 fat exchange. We would still encourage minimal intake, as explained in our guides. If you are used to a lot, try cutting back gradually.

JimslindalouParticipantI have not “Started” yet because I am making out groc. list etc. and checking it all out. Is there SOMEPLACE that explains the diet? Gives us a way to plan our own meals using the same food groups etc? I don’t understand two different meats (chicken and fish) in the same meal……there are no explanations or “rules” to go by……do we have to eat exactly what is listed for us? No we sub? If so how and in what amount is each food eatten in each meal? Daily? I agree with Jaylo, it sounds expensive, way too much food and come on, RAW? Please, somebody explain this diet….PLEASE!

beachloverParticipantHave looked through the cookbook recipes and not found any for beef, yet this is one of the foods you can check for the dinner menus when you build a weekly menu.

younismoParticipantI have 3 questions:
1. for the Vegetable Salad on this link:http://www.trimdownclub.com/recipe/vegetable-salad-with-dressing. Does each person eat 4 cups of chopped vegetables or 1 cup?
2. Can I drink coffee with sugar and cream during the day? How much?
3. Can a person drink alcohol such as Vodka? How much?

younismoParticipantHello,
I can’t find SWG bread or cereals, (Sprouted Whole Grains), what is a good substitute for that?
Thank you.
