I have an unusual allergy. I am allergic to all types of rice, brown, white, rice flour, etc. I have to stay away from all cereals, crackers and pasta that contains rice, and have to read the labels of all gluten free, cereals, breads etc. Any suggestions on what I can substitute in place of a serving of rice?
Hi, mkstegall. Other than other cooked carbohydrates such as pastas and potatoes, there are many grain and grain-like products that resemble rice’s texture – these include oat groats, Kamut (Khorasan wheat), green wheat (freekeh), hulled (whole) barley, whole couscous, bulgur (bourgoul), quinoa, farro, and rye.
