MemberI am very slowly getting over blood clots on my lungs. Now I can walk about 100 yds before I get very out of breathe. When I came out of hospital sitting up in bed was a struggle. Any ideas about exercise? If I don’t move the clots will not go but I get so out of breath. I have been like this since August last year. Doctor says it is just time till my body deals with it. I am on warfarin. I promise not to bite any rats.LOL I am getting very down and bored.

MemberHi, Edward. Did you get any physical activity limitations/instructions when you were discharged from the hospital? I’m assuming you were cleared if you are asking now. Hopefully you are being followed by a medical team, since they need to check your INR and be sure you are always on the correct warfarin dose.
In the meantime, you may consider building up your endurance by starting with yoga, which also works on your breathing as well as fitness; then gradually work your way up to light floor calisthenics, Pilates, etc., and in terms of time, intensity, and muscle groups used, until you can talk walks without worry. It would be ideal if you could join a guided group so a professional can be sure you are doing the right things and avoiding the wrong things.March 22, 2014 at 1:04 am #18718hellay
MemberEdward did they offer a post acute facility for rehabilitation prior to your discharge? Or homecare with physical therapy?
