MemberHi Again, so I finally got to start. My first day is 1 1/2 cups of oatmeal made with milk. Question, does this mean to cook the oatmeal in milk, which is what I believe it means, or put the milk on the oatmeal after it is cooked. 2nd question, I happen to have Quaker Oats Quick Cooking Oats in my cupboard, is that okay?

MemberYou are just going to add a snack between your regular meals – basically be sure during your active waking hours that you are eating something (use your menu for what to choose) every 2 1/2 to 3 hours. This will keep your insulin levels steady and help weight loss.
When it says 1 1/2 cup oatmeal, I just make the usual 1/2 cup dry oats to one cup of water, cook it, and call it good enough. It’s plenty for breakfast and when it includes nuts or fruit I chop em up and add it right to the oatmeal. Throw in some cinnamon if you like or other spice. JUST DON’T ADD SUGAR. iFebruary 24, 2014 at 10:14 pm #18290Ossie-Sharon
MemberHi, Julia. You can have the milk however you want. Yes, go ahead and use the quick oats (not recommended to through out food), and just make the switch to whole/steel-cut when you run out.

MemberI’m not talking “instant oatmeal” in the little packs. This is regular oatmeal, it called “quick cooking” because it cooks up in 5 minutes.

MemberHow about pasta, multi grain pasta with home-made bolognese sauce, no sugar added, but lots of veggies and extra lean meat. I would also like to know about frying vegetables in Pam.

MemberHi, Julia. That’s fine. If you want to upgrade, we recommend putting a good quality cooking oil in a mister (the glass type is best, just be sure to keep it in a dark cupboard – it really does not add much by way of fat, but there are fewer chemicals.

MemberI don’t understand your response, what’s okay, the pasta? Upgrade what?

MemberSorry – I wasn’t clear. I was referring to the Pam. If the pasta is whole grain, it is wonderful. If the sauces also does not have hydrogenated or saturated fats (i.e. palm oil), and even has some olive oil instead of 100% ‘vegetable oil,’ the dish you’re describing is essentially a superfood.
