MemberGreat news that the weight has started to shift and that you stuck to it through the negative times.
I too haven’t had much weight loss. To be honest, I know I have “cheated”.
Tomorrow is another day and I am determined I will not cheat.
I have kept up my exercises this week and sleeping better for them.
Keeping in contact with likeminded people is spurring me on.
I have lost only 5 lb. Imagine how well I could have done!March 28, 2013 at 12:34 pm #10457Dianak13
MemberReply to Jessica. If you are 104 lbs, how much do you think you should lose? Did you check this out with a nutritionist or your doctor? Just trying to be helpful.

MemberHello.
I just want to introduce myself.
My name is Monika Tuttle, I just joined here. I need to loose weight and control my Blood Sugar levels.
I will share my progress and hopefully get lots of help, should I need it.
I look forward to meeting all of you.
Thank you.

MemberI 2nd the motion JonnySpakins! First step we have to stop eating bad food identifed by this site. One needs to know what is BAD and what to avoid. Lost weight by that alone. Just to find out what is good and healthy was a big plus for me.

MemberThis is not a sprint! It’s a long distance race. Pace yourself and have fun!

MemberI want to share how much this site has helped me and I’m not sure where to do it: this looks like a good place.
I got divorced and moved out 2 years ago. Prior to this I had spent all of my adult life working out 5 days a week and making healthy meals for my family (mostly vegetarian and sometimes vegan and organic). After moving out, I lost all incentive to cook for myself. I would never eat breakfast because I worked out at 6 am and did it on an empty stomach. I work at home and had no real plan for what I would eat and would end up opening a can of soup or making pasta or just eating broccoli for dinner. My eating was just so disordered and unhealthy and was totally destroying my metabolism (although I hate sweets so they have never been an issue for me).
When I watched the video about the five supposedly healthy foods that are really unhealthy, I knew it was accurate and I decided that this site was right on the money and could help me. I joined 5 days ago and have already lost 3 pounds. The hardest part for me was forcing myself to eat breakfast — I have been eating 6 oz of plain greek yogurt before my workouts and then come home afterwards and have something more substantial for my second breakfast.
I feel so much better and I have been digging out my old Moosewood recipes to prepare healthy food for myself. Honestly, even if I don’t lose another pound, I am so grateful that I have found a way to truly nourish my body and feel strong and healthy.
The recipes in the TrimDown cookbook look fabulous and although I haven’t made any yet, I have made derivatives of them. The Journal and the Progress Meter have been tremendous motivators for me and are really helping me stay in touch with my body and my nutrition.

MemberI was starving myself and not loosing any weight even with walking an hour a day. I was very frustrated. I joined 3 days ago. It was really scary to eat six times a day. I lost a lb when I weighed myself this morning. I am so happy.

MemberHi: I started this diet program a couple of weeks ago. It certainly has helped me a lot. I used to eat dinner with all kind of tomato sauce and go to bed feeling an acid stomach all night long. Then I started taking anti-acid pills before going to bed. But now with this diet plan I have stopped eating foods with high tomato sauce. Resulting in no acid stomach and good sleeping. I am retired, so I can follow the diet plan according to my menu. It is a lot of fun going to the supermarket and shopping for the right healthy items.

MemberI am going to start this week. I am really good in the beginning of anything I try but then I always get bored with the routine. I hope this diet is different. I am counting on writing to everyone for support.. I am hoping that is going to make me stronger. I have a 40th class reunion coming up and would really love to loose 20 lbs by Oct. I have a goal so maybe I will try harder this time. Thanks for all the people that wrote in. That has helped me get a start. I always need a little push. It is so hard when you go out to eat with friends since we are retired. Too hard to control what to eat.

MemberHi, Lynn. Do take advantage of the online guide “Staying Strong when the Routine is Gone” (under “My Downloads” above) for tips for dining out.
I would like to reiterate that it is very, very important that you enjoy your lifestyle, and if dining out with friends is the gift that retirement has brought you, then go with it.
Here’s the thing about control: you don’t have to be perfect, just try to do better than you would have otherwise. If you can make slightly better choices at the restaurant, great. If options are limited, just eat smaller portions and take home doggie bags.
Keep in mind that this is not a diet, it is an upgrade for your lifelong eating habits, meaning it works best if you don’t up-end what makes you the happiest.April 22, 2013 at 5:06 pm #11137inastrvl
MemberI spend a lot of time and money buying and preparing my meals. Fortunately I am retired and can follow the plan. I started at 178 and am very slowly losing and I am now 173.5. Hurray!!! I never did this well on any other program and I am never hungry. I am now into my 3rd week. What I have learned is that my portions were way out of line. This really works.

MemberHi Lady! How are you doing? I finally lost from 178 to 173.5. It is great because I am changing my portion sizes. Have you lost those vacation #s? Let me know what is going on now.

MemberTo whom ever wants to reply;
I haven’t read all the posts ( I kind of pick and choose, here and there) but one thing I haven’t noticed is members talking about the percentage (%) we are given after making our choices for our weekly menus. I started off in the high 80’s and had worked up to the low 90’s during these last 3 months, but today’s came out at 96% and I was able to change that to 97% just by exchanging a few food items (not intentionally-but because, for instance, I didn’t want tofu which happened to be a medium or dark blue item and replaced it with tempeh, a light blue item, changing the percentage to a 97%. This made me feel pretty excited. I wonder if anyone has reached 100%.
