raisayMemberWhy are sweets at the end of the day in the menu plan? Why are fruits mostly recommended before lunch?

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Raisay. Sweets at the end of the day are just according to the preferences of many of our Clubmembers. Fruits before lunch are similar issue. You can switch things around if you like.

raisayMemberWhy are fruits usually paired with a carbohydrate and protein in the meal planner?

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Raisay. This is done to balance your metabolism.

raisayMemberHow does it balance your metabolism?
April 4, 2017 at 7:12 pm #38253
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Raisay. The protein slows down the entrance of sugar from the fruit into your blood, so that there are no major jumps in your blood sugar or insulin.

raisayMemberIs polydextrose safe as a natural sweetener? Also is soy lecithin ok? These two ingredients are in the chocolate I purchased.

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Raisay. Erythritol is one of the sweeteners we recommend! Polydextrose is safe, though it is not natural.
Regarding soy lecithin, that ingredient is somewhat controversial, but the amount in chocolate is very small.April 8, 2017 at 10:23 pm #38289
raisayMemberThanks Ossis-Sharron. Is polydextrose safe as a natural sweetener (found in my chocolate bar)?
April 9, 2017 at 8:43 pm #38299
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Raisay. Polydextrose is artificial, but so far the benefits appear to outway the risks.

LauriMMemberI like raw honey in my tea and smoothies. How good or bad is it and what is the maximum daily amount?
April 11, 2017 at 8:40 pm #38315
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, LauriM. Raw pure honey is great. There isn’t really a daily maximum per se, but we wouldn’t recommend more than a tablespoon (15 ml) at a time (preferably much less). It is considered a “breakfast sweet,” and you can have one each morning.
