cmontoniMemberHi I would like feedback on the health pros and cons of using the dietary supplement Almased. It is a soy, yogurt and honey based powder added to water or low fat milk. I am on the run more often than not and travel quite extensively. For the past year it has served as a meal replacement or diet supplement. I wonder about its real benefits, or should I say dangers. It has Soy and I know this was mentioned as a NO NO food.
Thanks in advanceDecember 16, 2013 at 12:52 pm #16810
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, cmontoni. The Almased shake is nearly devoid of fat and fiber, which makes it unbalanced as far as the body is concerned. Organic natural and especially fermented soy are fine, but this product is highly processed, including in ways that could work against your goals. If you are looking for something for your travels, I would recommend more whole-food-based natural products, such as http://www.gardenoflife.com/Products-for-Life/Foundational-Nutrition/RAW-Meal.aspx or http://amazinggrass.com/category/14/Amazing-Meal.html. You don’t have to use these specifically, just note the ingredients list and Nutrition Facts for an idea of the type of thing we suggest.
