MemberSo…tomorrow will be the end of my first week. I have lost 6.8lbs. so far. My question is…I am finding it harder these past two days. I feel much hungrier and I have headaches. I am using the program’s 14 day menu and am eating all meals. Just wondering is this is normal. Part is the cleansing process?

MemberHi, eilis408. Sorry to read that you are not feeling well. I think it is more likely that the relatively generic 14-day plan may not be meeting your needs.
If you can post some information about yourself (gender, age, height, weight, and activity level), I would be happy to run some calculations for you.June 17, 2013 at 1:40 pm #12556MrsPants
MemberJust started my first day and maybe I’m being a bit dozy (entirely possible) but I can’t see rhubarb anywhere – perhaps it’s because it needs to be sweetened – is it ok to eat rhubarb?

MemberHi, Mrs. Pants, and welcome. You don’t see rhubarb because it is “free” – you can add it anytime you want, and pretty much in any quantity (three whole cups raw is equal to a single slice of bread in carb content). For a link to other free vegetables, see here http://www.trimdownclub.com/free-vegetables/.

MemberA few more questions! 🙂 On the Menu Planner app…it shows how healthy your menu is for each day. How do I increase the %? And is there a guideline for how many carbs, proteins, etc. that I should aim for each day? I see the totals but not sure what to aim for.

MemberHi, eilis408. The 14-day “readymade” menu is definitely not enough food for you at your current weight – it is more in line with your goal weight. Have you tried going through the Menu Planner application? Even if you don’t want to follow it exactly, it can give you and idea of food groups, portion sizes, and timing. You can increase the health score by selecting more foods in the lightest blue. The basic pattern that would fit you right now is as follows (the units are similar to those used by the American Diabetic Association):
Breakfast: 1-2 starches, 2 proteins, 1-2 fats, 1 fruit,
Morning Snack: 0-1 starch, 2 proteins, 0-1 fat, 1 fruit, 0-1 vegetable
Lunch: 1-2 starches, 2 proteins, 1-2 fats, , 1-2 vegetables
Afternoon Snack: 1 starch, 2 proteins, 0 fat, 0-1 fruit, 1 vegetable
Dinner: 1-2 starches, 2 proteins, 1-2 fats, , 1-2 vegetables
Evening Snack: 1 starch, 1 protein, 0-1 fat, 1 fruitJune 17, 2013 at 3:52 pm #12574eilis408
MemberThank you so much! I started inputting information in to the personalized menu planner today! I will see how that works!

MemberYour 14 day meal plan just tells a few ingredients but does not make any sort of palatable meal. I cannot eat Goat cheese… and some of the items are strange to me and I do not even know where to get them. I thought this was a diet using just regular foods.
I selected the foods in each group, but never knew how to get meal plans of those foods, since the NEXT keeps sending me to the selections I had just completed. I need help !!! thanks, PaJune 21, 2013 at 5:25 pm #12724Ossie-Sharon
MemberHi, pclavender1. The 14-day plan and Menu Planner menus provide a framework of foods to meet your nutritional needs, that you can prepare to your tastes – hopefully following the healthy cooking recommendations made in the program overview (http://www.trimdownclub.com/product/trimdownclub-program/).
The foods there were selected for their superior contribution to healthy weight loss efforts. They are less known to many people, which is part of their advantage – they are less manipulated and processed. However, in the Menu Planner application, you can choose regular foods if you like, though we do encourage you to try some new foods or healthier versions of what you eat now. You can also use the 14-day plan as a pattern, and put in whichever foods in those food groups that you like.
Regarding the issue you described in the food selection process in the Menu Planner application, I am forwarding your query to the tech support team. Because it is essentially the weekend, in the interest of things being resolved quickly, I would be happy to work with you on making the express menu plan work, if you wish.June 26, 2013 at 3:06 pm #12830jhazelton
MemberI tried a smoothie recipe this morning that was posted on the Trim Down intro page. It was delicious, but I didn’t see any way to put it in the menu for the day. I did put it in my journal. Can you add to the menu design a way to put in foods that are substituted for menu items, and are not on the substitution list?
June 26, 2013 at 4:01 pm #12833Ossie-Sharon
MemberHi, jhazelton. We are working on that as we speak!
Many recipes are in the Menu Planner, but they are multiplying rapidly, and we stopped loading them in because they would take over already full pages. Therefore, we are investigating alternatives that would increase the recipes available for this, and shakes will definitely be in there, due to their populartity.
In the meantime, swap out the ingredients in the shake for similar ones on your menu – i.e. fruits, vegetables, dairy – even trading between meals, if you wish.June 28, 2013 at 12:11 pm #12876vhill
MemberI am still in my first week. I saw a post of the suggested intakes such as Breakfast: 1-2 starches, 2 proteins, 1-2 fats, 1 fruit. 1-2 what? Are these items, grams etc. and are they to be eaten as a combination or separate?
June 28, 2013 at 4:21 pm #12878Ossie-Sharon
MemberHi, vhill. Yes, the intention is for all of those items to be eaten at one meal. The exchanges refer to the portion sizes that come up in the menus through the Menu Planner application, and are very similar to those used by the American Diabetic Association.
Note, however, that patterns are dependent upon gender, height, and weight, and so are not necessarily the same for everyone. If you want to see yours, you can post your details here, and I will get back to you. - AuthorPosts
