MemberHi, Ardeen. While you are in France, don’t worry about specifics. Just focus on portion size, getting some physical activity (walking) and eating fresh, unprocessed foods, of which there is quite a bit there. Have a wonderful trip.

MemberHi, I’m a newbe. I filled out the food choices for the personal menu planer, and when I saw the resaults, I almost quit on the spot! who eats like that?
This menu was the most unrealistic plan I’ve ever seen. HelpOctober 6, 2014 at 2:08 am #23743ShirleyEyden
MemberHi Ossie-Sharon. I have to take a medication for 2 1/2 more years for breast cancer. It is a hormone blocker and the side effects are hot flashes and weight gain! I have gained about 20 pounds since starting on the medication and don’t sleep well because of the hot flashes. Can you recommend supplements to take along with the diet? How is conjugated linoleic acid and melatonin? Thanks

MemberHi, Shirley. Melatonin is generally considered an excellent choice, but CLA as a supplement less so – it is better to get it in organic pastured animal products, which have the added advantage of providing hormone-free high-quality protein, which is also recommended in your case. As far as other issues, the first thing that sprang to my mind is that perhaps you may wish to consider well-tested alternative therapies, including herbal support, acupuncture, etc. There are licensed practitioners in/near Scottsdale, such as

– Southwest Integrative Medicine at 9160 E Shea Blvd Ste 106/Phone: (480) 990 9355 or in Phoenix 4045 E Bell Rd Ste 107 (480) 451-5407October 6, 2014 at 9:22 pm #23772ShirleyEyden
MemberI thought that CLA was OK since a email from your sight had a link to this supplement for fat burning. Was this not connected to the Trim Down Club? The product is from BioTrust Nutrition.

MemberHi, Shirley. Sorry for the confusion – I was speaking more to the estrogen-related issue you were describing. The BioTrust product combines CLA with factors that assist in its metabolism, and so is great for other hormonal issues related to high-risk fat collection in the belly area (CLA as a standalone and unbalanced is controversial). Having said that, I would still encourage you to find animal products that are free from hormones.

MemberHi, Susan. The oatcake we are referring to is a food found mainly in the UK – it is like a cross between a cracker and a ricecake. Here’s what it looks like http://www.nairns-oatcakes.com/.

MemberI live in a small city in Georgia, and as I read the various menus posted, I found most required ingredients that I was not familiar with. Would most of the ingredients be in a health food store or natural foods market or online? I am losing weight, exercising, and I have tried a few of your recipes, but I want to include more variety so my body doesn’t get bored with the same food every day.

MemberHi, Peg. Yes! The ingredients are available at health-oriented stores, including large chains such as Whole Foods Market, Sprouts, and Trader Joe’s. Warehouse-type stores have also become great sources – these include CostCo, WalMart, and Target. You can also find quite a bit online. I’m attaching a link to our shopping guide – http://www.trimdownclub.com/shopping-links-for-healthy-foods.

MemberEncouragement! I just wrote this poem for my encouragement group. I thought I’d share it here also.
New Hope DawnsNew hope dawns again with the rising of the sun
Knowing that starting over has only just begun.
Temptation controlling life with that last look back,
Don’t surrender when feeling the urge of that defeating “past” attack.
Forging ever onward joy knowing it’s a brand new day.
Don’t let discouragement even have a say.
For today is all there really is, in the grand scheme of things.
Yesterday’s gone with no guarantees of tomorrow’s wakening.
So joyfully start today afresh, peace leading the way,
Get up and get started paying it forward without delay.
With resolve to be healthy and joyful, at least until noon…
Blink, and you might miss the chance to love and hum a tune,
After the day has ended, there’ll be smiles in your heart for sure.
Knowing this day was more than something you just endured.
Fulfilling a day with wishes and dreams coming true as planned
Deciding early this morning for happiness to take a stand.
So with resolve to be happy and healthy, all day long,
Come to the end of day with praise, heart filled with a song.
Knowing you made the right choices to be all you’re created to be
Satisfaction and pride in yourself you’ll find, showing you’re really free,
Free from choices made, that used to drag you down…
Choices now made that glorified Him, release those last big yawns,
Resting in God’s assurance tonight, morning comes as New Hope Dawns.

MemberI’m new to this, as of today! I don’t understand it all yet. What planning journal? Where do I find it? Some of the foods I’ve never heard of. I’m not terrific at computers–I’m 84! I really don’t know where to begin. I want to lose some pounds, even though at my age my appetite is not what it used to be. I have trouble walking, so exercise is not on my to-do list. Where do I begin?

MemberWhat the heck is vanilla essence???
October 15, 2014 at 9:33 am #23950doraelse
MemberI am just starting today as well and yes it is a lot of intake to put up with first, but I think its worth spending some time. I will go through the menu and pick the foods and dishes I feel confident cooking and preparing and just repeat them if I run out of options, but I feel confident that as longer I am in, as easier I will find it to prepare things. And Vanilla essence are those little bottles in the backing section to flavour your cakes with! 🙂
