MemberCan anyone tell me what is in a fast food vegetable salad??
January 9, 2015 at 9:14 pm #25751Ossie-Sharon
MemberHi, Jessel83. It is a vegetable side salad that you would get at a fast food restaurant; the fast food “chef’s salad” also has cheese, meat, and croutons in it.

MemberHi, GrandmaJudy. I have a couple of questions/suggestions:
1. Are you selecting foods from the lighter blues, especially among the carbohydrates? If not, this would be recommended, to reduce the amount of available carbohydrates through high fiber amounts.
2. Are you physically active? Adding or changing exercise is one of the best types of medicine for type 2 diabetes. This includes waking up new muscles (especially adding strength-training, i.e. lifting even light weights or full water bottles) and adding bursts of high intensity (i.e. jogging for 30 seconds for every five minutes of a walk).
3. I see your weight is on the border of two menu patterns, and you can move to the lower one just by changing the current weight in your profile to 180 lbs, which will reduce the amount of carbohydates.January 10, 2015 at 8:15 pm #25769grandmajudy64
Memberthanks I will check my menu planner. I do treadmill- 40mins-45 mins a

MemberI have just started yesterday and have to shop tomorrow. Can I use green bean(runner beans) for beans.

MemberHi, Rosemary. Those are fine for vegetable-type beans; I assume you mean that and not legume-type beans.

MemberI am new to this site. Where do I find the “spreads” Also, after making out my weekly menu, when I go to grocery list, I get a blank page.

KeymasterHi Twinmom, Congrats on early your success! This list should help you find those foods: http://www.trimdownclub.com/shopping-links-for-healthy-foods/
Hi KathyKi,
To locate your ‘free spreads’ please do the following:
• Go to your menu
• Locate a salad or item that is eaten with a spread
• Locate ‘Free Spread’
• Click on the pan icon to the right of ‘Free Spread’
• This will bring up your free spreads options for that specific foodAdditionally, in terms of the blank page, everything seems ok on our side. I suggest to try another browser. You may have Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or another browser already installed on your computer.
Hi waldo1961,
You will be able to see the exact breakdown of exchanges per item in exchange mode in your final menu plan. This is a very helpful tool and allows you to learn the proper balance of proteins and fats per meal in your menus. To your health and success 🙂

MemberHi, Twinmom. You can make your own versions of those products, and they may be healthier! We have quite a few recipes ourselves here. For example, the following chips recipe can be made for various vegetables, including carrots and kale: http://www.trimdownclub.com/recipe/zucchini-chips/
Example of vegan desserts: http://www.trimdownclub.com/?s=cocoa+%27cado&post_type=recipe, http://www.trimdownclub.com/recipe/chocolate-mousse/ (the mousse can be used as a pudding).January 19, 2015 at 1:28 am #25992waldo1961
MemberThank you for answering but I am afraid your response really did not address my question. I would like to know the general proportion of protein to carb to fat so that when I am out at a restaurant, I will have an idea of what to eat. (The exchanges you say are on the menu are for each item and are in categories that are of equal food group such as meat for meat).

MemberHi, waldo. We recommend about 3 grams of carbohydrates to each gram of protein and fat, which comes out to about 10 carb exchanges (including fruits) for each 10 protein exchanges and 5 fat exchanges.
