MemberHi, Skeezix. Regular ice cream just means it is dairy and not “light,” non-fat or sugar-free.

MemberIs Quaker puffed wheat okay?
Are brussel sprouts a free vegetable?February 6, 2015 at 1:26 am #26774Ossie-Sharon
MemberHi, Judith. Quaker puffed wheat is fine – just try to get the kind without added sugar. Brussels sprouts aren’t a free vegetable, but you can have a lot of them – 2 cups is a serving. You can see which vegetables are free and which aren’t by clicking on the “Vegetables” button in the Menu Planner.

MemberHi, dragon_tango. That would be me :). We like you to post in the forums so that everyone can benefit from the points you bring up. The following are the answers to your questions:
1. Yes, peanut butter (and other nut butters) are encouraged, but try to get the types without added sugar or hydrogenated fats.
2. You can flavor your water with squeezes of fresh lemon and lime juice and infusions of berries or cut fruit herbs such as lemon grass and mint (see tips in this recipe: http://www.trimdownclub.com/recipe/crystal-punch/). The following is a guide for choosing sweeteners: http://www.trimdownclub.com/the-best-way-to-sweeten-your-tea-2/.
3 – we actually don’t recommend aspartame (because it can work against your efforts here), but there are others that can fill that need (monk fruit, inulin).
4. Each person has a different amount of fruit that is factored into their nutritional needs, and you can see this by clicking on “Exchange view” in the toolbar above your finished menu. If you want more fruit, you can substitute the extras for carb exchanges (if you would like more guidance on this, please do repost). These really are great questions – shared by many newbies here – and I appreciate you posting here for everyone to see.
It is a lot of information, but easing into it gradually and at your own pace is the best path to success, and we really are here for you. You may also like joining the groups to correspond with people who have been in your spot and found their way here (see the link in the top right corner).
