MemberIs vension acceptable protein with this program? We kill and process our own. Has NO fat in it. Is completely all natural.

MemberI am not a nutritionist, but I think venison would be a wonderful protein for this type of healthy eating! Lucky you!
We have a whole herd of deer living in our little retirement park here in Florida. But since we back up on a sanctuary, they are protected. They come out every night and yell “Smorgasbord!” and eat every flower they can! Then there are the 35 wild turkeys that roam our yards, not to mention the gators in the ponds….lots of good eating!

MemberI have the same question…we have a cattle ranch in our family and have access to plenty of venison and beef, both all natural and so low in fat that if we make patties from the ground meat we have to add something to make it bind.
I guess my real question would be what would it be a proper swap for.
And Camplaffalot, those turkeys sound pretty yummy too!January 13, 2013 at 5:14 am #5912Ossie-Sharon
MemberSince the program encourages use of lean, natural meats, there is no problem with you swapping venison for beef. For other wild game, you can do the same for similar categories – i.e. duck/goose for chicken/turkey.
