I`ve been told recently that taking 2 tbsp. of Virgin Coconut Oil twice a day help you to loose weight.
What is your thoughts on this. Will doing this compromise this program.
Hi, Lilacflowers. Adding oil in large amounts to your menu will not aid in weight loss unless it causes malabsorption, which is harmful. Any oil, especially a saturated type such as coconut, should be used in small amounts as seasoning or for cooking. Then what benefits it has may outweigh the downside. Certain medical conditions (epilepsy, liver disease) may benefit from the medium-chain triglycerides in coconut oil, but large amounts are not likely to benefit most people.
As far as weight loss goes, eating fats at similar times each day may boost metabolism – but again, this does not mean eat large amounts.
