openmike01MemberIs a zero calorie sports drink like Powerade Zero an acceptable substitute for the 10 glasses of water each day?
January 16, 2013 at 12:15 am #6275
Ossie-SharonMemberPowerAde contains chemicals that aren’t recommended on the program. If you like sports drinks, it is best to try something without such additives, such as liv-organic.

cgoodeMemberWhat about Propel?
January 17, 2013 at 11:35 am #6483
Ossie-SharonMemberPropelWater has artificial sweeteners and a preservative, so not the best choice. Sorry.

loriforeMemberI like to check out ideas on Pintrest and have noticed some recipes for infused waters. Most of them have no sugar but some add honey or “simple sugar” to sweeten. Would these be acceptable subs?

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Lori. It depends which “simple sugars” you use. Most of these, as well as honey, still impact metabolism somewhat unfavorably – blood sugar, blood fats, liver, etc. and can add up at the end of the day. If you want to try it with coconut sugar or xylitol, that’s fine. Coconut sugar is the only “simple” sugar currently recommended in the program, because it does have benefits with minimal negative impact. Xylitol is in another class altogether. You can check out a brief comparison of sugars and substitutes here http://www.trimdownclub.com/the-best-way-to-sweeten-your-tea-2/.

DannimomMemberQuestion on size of glass of water…Ten glasses of water per day, how many oz should each glass be?
Thanks from San Francisco Bay Area

Ossie-SharonMemberA glass of water is 8 fluid ounces or 240 ml.

bigdane123MemberI follow a simple rule. Drink half your body weight in ounces everyday. Note you have to build up to that amount. Your body will thank you.

BillylynnMemberI´m new to the program, been around for about a week. Pretty much having the same struggles figuring out the menus.
BUT I have figured out how to get used to drinking water. I ate a lot of chips one day – yes this totally blew the diet, and drank only water. I’ve had no problem drinking enough water ever since. (Is this what they call total immersion?)February 17, 2013 at 7:24 pm #9088
thekidMemberSimple filtered tap water is best IMO

kimdawn72MemberI don’t like plain water. I have been using a product called MIO, it flavors the water. I would like to know is it ok to add this to the water or am I not getting the proper water intake and hurting the healthy living I am trying to strive for.
March 31, 2013 at 10:38 pm #10545
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, KimDawn72. Unfortunately, we can’t recommend MiO, as it contains artificial ingredients and concentrated syrups. The best way to flavor water is to squeeze in some citrus juice (lemon or lime work best) and add a natural carb-free sweetener such as monk fruit or xylitol.

SpacebreadMemberAre the crystal light packets OK to use?
July 20, 2013 at 7:17 pm #13433
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Spacebread. Crystal Light contains artificial sweeteners, so it is not recommended in this program. A better choice would be the juice from a lemon or lime, water, and a natural no-carb sweetener such as monk fruit.
