MemberI’ve always been something of a camel. I’ve never been a big water drinker. I know drinking water is super important for health, however, I get heartburn when I drink a lot of it. also I don’t particularly like water alone. I have come across a fruit juice concentrate that claims 0 carbs and is apple and black currant. no sugar and no artificial sweeteners. it really helps me take in more fluids. is this ok? I only use about 2 tbsp. per 8 ounces of water.

MemberHi again, PetDoctorJ. That product has artificial sweeteners (saccharin and aspartame), which aren’t recommended here. In addition to potential serious side effects over time, their use has been found to impact metabolism in a way that encourages weight gain.
A suggested alternative would be to add about 2 Tbsp of lemon juice (from fresh lemons or bottled) to a glass of water with a natural sweetener such as monk fruit (non-caloric) or xylitol (fewer calories than sugar). - AuthorPosts
