MemberJUST STARTING THE PROGRAM AND VERY EXCITED. YET MY HUSBAND AND I LOVE TOO GO OUT FOR A FEW NITECAPS AFTER ALONG DAY. CAN I HAVE A VERY LOW CARB BEER OR A VODKA THAT HAS NO CARBS…?

MemberHi, Mommom 🙂 You can definitely have drinks on this program – just budget them into your day. Each 12-13 ounce light beer and each shot (1.5 fluice ounces) is a carb exchange. You can see how many exchanges you are allotted for each meal and day by clicking on “Exchange mode” in the toolbar above your menu.

MemberI love sweet tea lemon aid from Chick Fila can I have this or can I make my own sweet tea with refined sugar? I do not like the substitute sweeteners.

MemberHi, dporter. It is better that you make your own lemonade from real lemons and a high-quality sweetener. You don’t have to use a sugar substitute, but it is preferable that you use whole raw sugar.

MemberI normally have 1 cup of coffee every morning, can I add some half & half to it, and stevia as sweetener? Or is there something better?

MemberHi, mborrego. That’s fine.

MemberHi,
I like to drink one cup of International French Vanilla Coffee in the can for breakfast with two packages of Belvita crackers. Can I still do both?June 1, 2017 at 9:35 pm #38897Ossie-Sharon
MemberHi, cward. Both are rather processed and have artificial additives, but of the two, the biscuits are better. For the coffee, it would be better to flavor your own regular coffee with vanilla extract and add whole milk and a high-quality sweetener like Stevia (with or without erythritol in the blend).
If you have time, perhaps you can make your own biscuits – we have lots of “cookie” recipes that could be suitable (for example, http://www.trimdownclub.com/recipe/homemade-graham-crackers/).June 27, 2017 at 1:44 pm #39115lizhar
MemberHi just starting this programme but there is no mention of what to drink. I enjoy a cup of tea, with skimmed milk, about 5 times a day. Will this be ok?
June 27, 2017 at 10:16 pm #39118Ossie-Sharon
MemberHi, lizhar. You can read about recommended beverages in the FAQ section that starts below your menu. Tea is great, and is a “free” beverage (meaning you don’t need to count it in your menu). Skim milk is best if it is fortified with vitamins and does not contain any added “milk solids,” which can be quite unhealthy. Try to keep track of how much of the milk you add in a day so that you can count it properly toward your daily allotment – each cup (8 fluid ounces or 240 ml) is equal to 1/2 carb + 1/2 protein exchange. You can see your exchange allotments by clicking on “Exchange mode” in the toolbar above your menu.

MemberI am a tea totaler and I use raw brown sugar. I cannot consume artificial sweeteners at all as they give me migraines. I can spot artificial sugar as soon as it goes in my mouth. I have stomach issues and am now lactose intolerant.I take a PRE-BIOTIC several times a week with apple juice. I love cranberry juice. I currently drink herbal teas and juices (apple, cranberry, grape) so what would you recommend ? everything is concentrated today.

MemberHi, Jeannyb. We recommend to avoid artificial sweeteners, so you’ve come to the right place. Natural sweeteners such as Stevia, erythritol, or a combination seem to have the best taste without side effects. With regard to the juices, we would recommend to make your own with a juicer, or just use the cut fruit to steep in water and flavor it.

MemberWhat about water and can I have coffee with sugar free powdered creamer
August 28, 2017 at 10:51 pm #39541Ossie-Sharon
MemberHi, Gibbs. We definitely encourage water, and coffee is also fine, too. With regard to the whitener, we recommend natural options such as full-fat dairy milk or plant-based milky beverages (such as almond, rice, coconut) – powdered products are highly processed, and may work against your efforts here.
