I was just wondering what the difference is in greek yogurt or regular nonfat yogurt, as far as meal/snack placement? My family prefers greek yogurt, but I’ve noticed it doesn’t appear on the menu as often as regular yogurt does. Would it hurt to replace regular yogurt with greek yogurt when this happens? We buy the fat free of both greek and regular, but we’d much rather just buy greek period, as we all like the taste of it much better!
Hi, bntnemenz. Greek yogurt is higher in protein and has a creamier texture; it is also naturally higher in fat, though of course there are lowfat and nonfat versions available (we wouldn’t recommend the nonfat, because chemicals may be added to compensate for color and texture). You can replace regular with lowfat Greek yogurt, but you may need to swap out an ounce of another protein or a carb (your choice).
