Amaranth is a grain that is found either in the grains section (with the rice) or in the health foods section. If not, you can definitely find it online (including through Amazon) and in health-oriented shops.
It is cooked, used as a side dish like rice, or as a hot cereal.
Please could you tell me what Amaranth is and where will I look for it in the supermarket?
Amaranth is a gluten-free grain that is nutrient-rich, while being low-calorie. In some regions, it is used as a hot cereal. The leaves, as are to be used here, add a huge dose of vitamins, with no carbs or fat.
The reason this program encourages such foods is that most conventional, overfarmed foods are not as good for you as they used to be, for a variety of reasons. Therefore, the health-conscious are reaching out to foods that have been proven in other cultures to provide great benefits.
