This past week I have been adding an avocado with salt and pepper, along with the shake to provide healthy fats.
I have been making a meal replacement shake for several years and I wonder if I am using too many calories. Ingredients: 2 oz water, 1/2 banana, 3 baby carrots, 2 pieces of broccoli, 1/2 large kale leaf. For fruits I have 2 options: 1) 1/4 cup frozen blueberries, 1/4 cup frozen pineapple, 1/3 cup frozen mango. Option 2) 1/4 cup frozen blueberries, 1/4 cup frozen blackberries, 1/4 cup frozen red raspberries, 1 or 2 frozen strawberries, 1 scoop of whey protein powder, 1 teaspoon stevia, and couple of ice cubes. Then mix in your blender. Thanks for any comments you might have.
Hi, smtsch. It’s not too much – it’s exactly right for a snack, and actually much too little for a meal. What is the whey product you use?
Elevation – Whey protein powder Blend-Chocolate, Milk and soy, sucralose. Purchased at Aldis
Hi, smtsch, and thanks. The only problem with that product is the sucralose, which is an artificial sweetener and can actually work against your goals here. I would recommend something with a natural sweetener such as Stevia, erythritiol, and or xylitol – for example, VegaOne or Garden of Life Raw Protein, both of which come in chocolate (it is not whey, but the protein is of high quality).
Can I use yogurt in the smoothie?
Hi, Billdew. Yes – plain yogurt is an excellent choice 🙂
Hi, Fredadacosta. This can definitely be frozen.
Hi I would like to know if I can freeze this smoothie when I have made it.
No getting out of it…I must have a smoothie for Snack #3 or else redo the entire day’s plan. I can handle this. CK
Hi, ChineseBaby. Any berries are good in this shake.
Hi, jeffdeprince. This program does not work with calories, but I can tell you that each cup yields about 15 grams of carbohydrates.
Do you think it matters if I substitute the blackcurrant with rasberry?
How interesting that this smoothie can be warmed up for a winter treat. Being it is still snowing, I think I will try a warm smoothie:) Glad to have many smoothie recipes. I work night shift part time and fitting in a meal can be tricky. Sipping a smoothie through the night seems to work nicely.
