If cooking a batch of oatmeal so you have enough for several servings, once cooked how much would a serving be? 1/2 cup, cup?
Hi, Cmr6663. Each 1/2 cup of cooked oatmeal is a carbohydrate exchange, but you can have 2 carbohydrate exchanges at breakfast (in addition to fruit)
I use honey instead of sugar in my coffee, etc. is this acceptable? I hardly ever use sugar.
Hi, Queenoflaurel. Absolutely! Try to get 100% honey that has not been tainted by refined sugar.
hi I have just started the club I don’t really like the breakfast
menu except for the porridge and berries but I use almond
milk
also is scrambled egg and lean grilled bacon ok with beans.
Hi, NormaGibson. Scrambled egg can be great, depending on the type of egg and additives you use – we recommend omega-3 eggs or pastured types, cooked in olive oil with regular milk or a vegan milky beverage made with all-natural ingredients. Bacon should be “uncured” – in other words, without added artificial nitrites, and beans are always great (especially if prepared with minimal added sugar). Ultimately it becomes about portion size – according to your menu pattern, you could have one egg scrambled with 1/4 cup of milk and cooked in 1 teaspoon of olive oil, with 1 strip of uncured bacon and 1/2 cup of beans, plus a serving of fruit. You can make these substitutions by clicking on the circular arrow icon to the right of the meal header, then selecting the specific foods you want (guided by your allotted exchanges).
I have newer in my life used sweet on oatmeal bowl, Im from Iceland, instead we salt it. Taste so delicious
Hi Sigga…In Scotland this is the traditional way we make our ” porridge “……???
Hi, can I add honey to this instead of the sweetener?
Hi, Ciaramity. Honey is fine if it is pure honey – but note that it still contains sugar, and so the amount is best limited to a teaspoon (5 ml).
Hi
I am new too the club
I have been eating a Organic gluten free cornfakes with semi skimmed milk , sweetened with a little organic honey !
My menu doesn’t feature cornflakes why ? Sorry I think I’m in the wrong forum !!
Hi, Ossie11. Generic terms for most food products are used, so for Cornflakes, look for “Cereal Cold, Corn-based” in the Menu Planner food list.
Hi, I am new to this site so just finding my way around I live in Cornwall UK can I use my natural porridge oats cooked with half water/1%fat milk I do The add any sort of sugar only blueberries and raspberry

Hi, Karenclaire. Absolutely! That sounds great 🙂
Can I have a jacket potato instead of mashed potato?
I would like to have more cereals at breakfast and sandwiches at lunch time but when I edit my planner for each day I don’t get the alternative option. Please would you advise.
Hi, bowler123. If the amount of the actual potato is the same, then absolutely! As for the foods in your menu, be sure to check them as you go through the personal Menu Planner (many cereals currently are not, for example), and in your final menu, you can trade any carb for that option by clicking on the unwanted one, and making the choice from the pop-up menu. I see at lunch you have quite a few ingredients to make sandwiches.
Can I use unsweetened almond milk instead of milk
Hi, Clare. Yes.
Do you mean a standard cup size or what? For measuring? U.K.
Hi, Hawki. It is 240 ml.
What is monk fruit powder and where do I buy it there are lots of ingredients in these recipes I’ve never heard of ?
Hi, tracey44. You can find out more about these items in our articles, and where to find them in our shopping guide: http://www.trimdownclub.com/where-to-buy-uk. Particularly good shops include Goodness Direct, Holland and Barrett, Whole Foods Market, and Amazon.

I don’t like milk . Can I use natural yoghurt instead
Hi, Morodg. Absolutely!
My husband and I both have sinus problems when consuming dairy products. We have been using soya. (Only just joined the club) What alternatives can we have?
Hi, martinjanenorm. If you two have been doing well with soya, there’s no real reason to stop – we would just suggest to have it be organic, perhaps without carageenan if you can find it. Alternatives include hemp and oat milks, though note that they have half the protein.
