How many exchanges of sugar are in a cup of tea with 2 sugars? I hate tea without sugar!
Hi, MichalM. If you mean 1 teaspoon or cube of sugar as a “sugar,” then two would equal 2/3 of a carbohydrate exchange. If you have more than one cup of tea per day, then it would be recommended to consider using a healthier sweetener – the most recommended are stevia, erythritol, or a combination of the two. It may take a while to get used to the change, so try to make it gradually (every few days a little less sugar with a little more of the alternative) – it really is worth it.
What about erythritol?
Hi, MichalM. Erythritol is excellent.
I have home canned Roma tomatoes, are they good to use? I just cut up and can in water.
Hi, Debstay. Those are fine.
What about demarra sugar?
Hi, debcargo. Demerara sugar is definitely better than white and even brown sugar.
How much demarra sugar should I use. I know that Stevia is very concentrated.
Thanks, Debbie
Hi, debcargo. 2 teaspoons of demerara sugar should be plenty.
can you use truvia, i like to use it in my coffee
Hi, Chandler_ryan. From what we know so far, Truvia is fine relative to fully artificial non-Stevia alternatives.
ossie-sharon is using coconut sugar good
Hi, mijacko. Coconut sugar is great.
Anxious to try the keptup…
is canderel ok to use
Hi, Gallopandgifts. We don’t encourage products like Canderel because they include artificial sweeteners, which can work against your efforts here. We suggest natural no-carb sweeteners such as Stevia with erythritol.
how long does it last in fridge
Hi, sweetie. It will last several days in the refrigerator. If you make more than you can use in that time, you can freeze the rest.
Hi, is Splenda an ok sweetener to substitute for the Stevia? We have quite a bit of Splenda on hand.
Hi, Merrinthe. We don’t recommend Splenda because it is artificial and may work against your efforts here. However, we also don’t encourage throwing things out. Just use up what you have, and the next time you go shopping for sweeteners, perhaps select something natural (you may wish to experiment until you find something you like). The following article may help: http://www.trimdownclub.com/the-best-way-to-sweeten-your-tea-2.
Watch out for Splenda and the non-brand name. It can cause diarrhea in sensitive people.
Can I use organic cane sugar?
Hi, AudreyRuth. If it is whole raw sugar, that’s fine. The amount would be 4 teaspoons (20 g).
Is Krisda (premium stevia extract) ok to use?
Hi, AudreyRuth. Krisda is excellent!
Is the tomato ketchup recipe the same as the tomato sauce recipe – can’t find one for tomato sauce
Hi, Dora. The flavoring is different than would be for a tomato sauce. If you want to make the latter, try this recipe http://www.trimdownclub.com/recipe/homemade-tomato-juice/, but simmer the mixture longer (for about an hour), until it reaches your desired consistency.
