I’m not a big peanut butter fan – is there another meal I can substitute for this?
Hi, Neen1009. You can use any nut or seed butter for this recipe – almond butter may be particularly good here. In general, you can swap items in your menu by clicking on the edit or crossout tool to the right of it, then selecting a replacement from the pop-up list.
Hi, i dislike coconut oil, can i use grass fed butter instead?
Hi, Hab6512. Sure!
Oh my gosh!! These are soooo good and also easy to make!! I can’t believe I get to eat this!
how many carbs per serving
Hi, Evelynmb. There are 13 g of carbohydrates per serving.
I’m a bit confused on how to melt the dark chocolate? Is that mixed in with anything ? And how long do you melt the peanuts butter and oil for?
Hi, Aidz. You melt the dark chocolate in a microwave or over the stove until it is in a pourable state, then pour it over the layer of peanut butter+coconut oil. You melt the latter together until they can be well-blended and poured or spread into a pan or muffin cups.
How can you check the food list for things you don’t eat or are allergic to
Hi, NewKali. You can remove items from your menu that contain ingredients to which you are allergic by clicking on the cross-out icon and selecting a replacement from the pop-up menu. You can also often substitute items. For example, if you are allergic to peanuts, you can make this recipe with any other nut butter (almond is easiest). If you have many allergies, please repost here, and I will give you instructions for personalizing your menu.
So, is there no way to tell the menu builder “don’t give me anything with eggs” or something like that. Or do we have to click on every single recipe. That seems pretty time consuming..
Hi, Supermom0504. There is also the option for personalizing the menu altogether. To take advantage of this, just do the following:
1. Deselect “keto” from the “Dietary Needs” section of your profile (lower right area).
2. Generate a new menu
3. Click on the edit tool (pencil icon) at the upper right of each meal header, then make food choices to match the pattern offered, with the following substitutions to make it keto:
* 2 fat exchanges for each carbohydrate exchange
* a vegetable exchange for each fruit exchange (or low-carbohydrate fruits like cantaloupe and raspberries)
* for the sweet exchange, use a high-fat, low-carbohydrate choice like dark chocolate
4. If you prefer fewer snacks/meals as in the original keto plan, use the exchanges from meals you don’t want in the meals you do want.
* Since the system does not allow blank meals, just select a placesaver like “Vegetables of Your Choice”
Do I eat the sweets as a snack and how much for instance the peanut butter pastry. I would eat this in.place what is on the menu for a snack
Hi, Zeldasophie1. You can eat the sweets as a snack. Just make sure the portion equals approximately 200 calories – so for this recipe, you would have about one-tenth (about 2 tablespoons).
What size pan do you use to put them in and freeze, to get the 4 servings to resemble the picture?
Hi, Tracy0126. A 4×4-inch (10×10-cm) square mini tart pan will do.
I made this with a little adjustment. I used unsweetened raw cocoa powder instead of chocolate. I melted the peanut butter + coconut oil, mixed in the raw cocoa + stevia and freeze. It gave a light chocolate color and it tastes good with a little bitterness to it.
Hi, Arire. Great idea!
I used natural peanut butter, TLC oil and Stevia. I heated on low until melted then added the Stevia, put it in a pan instead of cupcake pan, stuck it in the freezer and left it for 3 hours. Took it out to put the chocolate on top and was so surprised to turn around and find it in a liquid form exactly like it was 3 hours prior. This was a total waste of food.
Hi, Mariegrahamacracker. Sorry to read. What do you mean by “TLC” oil?
Dark chocolate? What kind?
Hi, Mariagrahamacracker. Any brand will do, but the recommendation is for the percent of cocoa solids (the dark part) to be at least 70%.
As for the instructions for this recipe, we freeze the chocolate, then melt it??
Hi, Xpitch2032. No, the chocolate is not part of the first cooking and freezing process. It is melted AFTER the peanut butter and coconut oil are melted then frozen together.
Can I use any brand peanut butter?
Hi, Crmarken1. Yes, though we do encourage a type that has only peanuts in it, without added sugar, fats, or chemicals.
Yes I figured that I just want to try it and have skippy in house before spending money on peanut butter my household won’t eat.
Hi, Crmarken1. Go with Skippy then. Don’t throw away food, and don’t disappoint your household. After all, this is just a dessert/snack, not a main meal.
By the way, you can get a firmer texture with creamy natural peanut butters by letting the oil settle on top, draining off a bit, then stirring. You can also try peanut butter + coconut blends (Earth Balance has a product), which are still all-natural, but may taste better and are even more keto-friendly.
If it’s just a snack, why did it come up for breakfast for me?
Hi, Supermom0504. Due to popular demand, we have started adding it as a meal, with an increased portion size.
Can I use almond butter in this instead of peanut butter?
Thanks
Hi, lagreenlee. Definitely!
This all is very confusing to me! Where do you find menus? Do you have to be rich to go Keto?
Hi, Ketonewbie1. You can access your menus by clicking on “My Menus” on the homepage, then opening the link that appears. You definitely don’t need to be rich to go keto, just know where to shop for affordable healthy staples – bigbox discount stores like Target, CostCo, WalMart have an increasingly good selection.
Isn’t 13g a lot to start out with on breakfast
Hi, leeleeluv34. The typical breakfast has 45-60 grams of carbohydrate, so this is quite low. Further, it is more than balanced out by the protein and especially the fat content.
So far I’ve been reading your recipes and some of them needed to be updated. I find some of your recipes very confusing.
Hi, Lindafrey50. If you list the issues you observed here (including the names of specific recipes), I will provide them to the recipe development team.
I have found that the spelt waffle recipe is missing ingredients. It says to mix dry ingredients but the only dry ingredient listed is the spelt flour.
Hi, Ladydragon. Yes – the baking powder and salt got deleted somehow. They have been added back in. Thanks so much for the heads-up! 🙂
Does this need to stay frozen or can you just refrigerate after it’s been frozen?
Hi, bunnielynn. You can store it in the refrigerator.
Do you have any recipies that are less time consuming to make
Hi, Coolc. Yes, we absolutely have recipes that are quicker. Are you referring to the preparation time itself, or to the refrigeration for two hours? Are you looking specifically for a dessert?
To clarify, 4 servings, means to use for four different meals?
Hi, KarenWhite. Yes 🙂 You can either share with other people in your household at the same meal, or freeze it for later use. Note that you can repeat meals and even whole days of your menu as often as you like.
Okay I am new to this it says 517 calories is that all 4 or just for one I am on 1800calories very confused on me to
Hi, Peaches. That is for one serving. The computer program makes sure it all balances out.
Can I use almond butter?
Hi, Curtis67. Yes – you can use any nut butter you wish here.
The amount of chocolate in the photo is not correct for the photo. I heated one ounce of chocolate and it only covered six (of 12 pieces) very thinly. Suggest modifying recipe and macros to double the chocolate, or please advise how to stretch chocolate to cover all 12. Thanks.
Hi, smnnkd. The recipe has been updated to include the appropriate amount of chocolate. By the way, it is intended for four pieces.
Thanks for the correction. At the time I printed this recipe, it was for 12 servings. Have a great day!
Very good
